Mary-Lou McDonough was born in Lexington, MA, where she spent her childhood years, attended public schools, and graduated from LHS. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Special Education at Lesley University in Cambridge. As an educator, she taught in the Boston, Wakefield and Lexington school systems. After marrying her husband Shaun, the couple purchased their first home in Acton, where they lived for a few years before returning to Lexington to raise a family.
From the time she was a young adult, Mary-Lou has been fascinated with the real estate market, so choosing real estate as her next career came as a natural fit. Firmly believing in home ownership as a sound long-term investment, she and her husband have purchased, built, renovated and sold properties in the area since 1980. A committed life learner, she believes that professional excellence is achieved through a combination of knowledge and hard work. Mary-Lou’s childhood summers were spent at her family’s cottage located in the quaint seaside community of Rockport. There, she first experienced the beauty and wonder of Cape Ann, growing to know and love the area as her second home. Today she, Shaun, and their sons continue this family tradition, and gather each summer at the home they built up the hill from her childhood cottage. Conveniently located, this "Other Cape” is just a 45-minute drive north of Lexington, making it an integral part of her local territory. In fact, her first clients on the North Shore came to her from Lexington. After assisting the family in purchasing a condo for a weekend retreat, she later sold their family home in Lexington and assisted them again in their purchase of a second property in Gloucester, now their year round residence. Today she continues to share her love for and knowledge of both communities by working with clients seeking to sell or purchase property in either of her "home towns”. Her business however has since expanded, and she now provides services to clients throughout eastern Massachusetts.
